His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah on 25th November morning graced the National Flag Handover Ceremony to the Brunei Darussalam contingent competing at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games ​or SEA Games 2025. The event took place at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council. Upon arrival, His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen was greeted by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

 

The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang.

 

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in his welcoming remarks said the athlete selection for the Games was the result of the athletes' hard work and commitment during training. Yang Berhormat also called for the athletes to show their best performance by providing healthy competition to other ASEAN athletes.

 

The President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council in a sabda said the athlete's participation in the Games is an opportunity to prove their competitive capabilities, and reminded them to avoid any prohibited substances as well as adhere to the anti-doping regulations.

 

The President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council then handed over the national flag to Dayang Hajah Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim, Youth and Sports Director as the Chef de Mission.

 

Doa Selamat was read by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awang Haji Emran.

 

Brunei Darussalam will be represented by 65 athletes who will compete in 9 events. His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen and Her Royal Highness Princess Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah will compete in the Polo event for the Low Goal and High Goal categories. The 33rd SEA Games will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from the 9th to 20th December.
